Father Francis is already celebrating Masses, Baptisms, and even funerals in the new St Jude Church.
He said, “The villagers are so excited about the new church. It is already reviving their faith beautifully. I am looking forward to the parish of St Jude to flourish and grow strong.”
The gratitude of the villagers to the Gillett family and all of our continued support is immense – so heartwarming!
The Altar, the Stations of the Cross, and the beautiful artwork around the Crucifix on the front wall were all hand painted by a local artist. She worked diligently, sometimes singing softly, while the colors and forms took shape across the walls. It was a lovely experience, just listening and watching it all unfold.
The choir loft is completed and soon pews will be permanently installed.
After the pews are in place, Archbishop of Kampala, Rt. Rev. Paul Ssemogerere will schedule and officiate at the Mass of Dedication of St Jude Church. It may be later this Spring – we’ll keep you updated.
Meanwhile, the parishioners continue to gather and celebrate in the beautiful new sanctuary with joyful songs praising God. And especially, during Lent, a deeply solemn atmosphere as the Stations of the Cross are prayerfully proclaimed on Friday afternoons. The experience is so tender and humbling.
Palm Sunday is almost upon us, so there is great anticipation for Holy Week to begin.
And, of course, Easter is expected to be a tremendous celebration – a beautiful, holy day. Thank you so, so much for your generosity and making this all possible.
